Bernice "Shorty" Dawson

Bertha Bernice Dawson "Shorty", 88, of Eufaula passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. She was born on February 24, 1930, in Russellville, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Raymond and Mettie (Cagle) Lawrence. She attended Eufaula Public Schools. On July 19, 1948, Bernice married Marvin Monroe Dawson in Van Buren, Arkansas. They were happily married for fifty-eight years. Bernice worked at the Tastee Freeze from 1977-1985. She loved baby sitting all of her grandkids and enjoyed going to their school functions. In her spare time, Bernice enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and singing. She was an active member of the Deeres Chapel Church. Survivors include: her daughters, Patti Manley and husband Rick of Wilburton, Shirley Breedlove and husband Glenn of Eufaula and TC Dawson and husband Steve of Eufaula; her grandchildren, Brandon Manley and Meghan, Danny Brazabon and wife, Juliana, Tim Burrough and wife, Eureka, Bonnie Weston and husband John, Brenna Peters and husband Brian, Cody McGuire, Bailey Breedlove, Seth Dawson and Jessica Whisenhunt and husband Mark; her great grandchildren, Jericho, Dakota, Josiah and Baby Weston; Brilee Peters, Amiyah and Jeremiah Burrough, Amiel and Isabella Brazabon and Jiles, Dawson and Chauncey Whisenhunt; and her sisters, Vermel Lawson and Naoma Morrow both of Tulsa; and a special friend, Bonnie Beaver. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Bonnie Dawson, her brothers, Everett Lawrence, Leo Lawrence, and Herschel Lawrence, and a sister, Lois.
