Barbara Wheeler

Barbara was born on September 28, 1944 in Indianola, Oklahoma to Odie Lee and Opal Mae (Harper) Newman. She graduated from Santa Maria Joint Union High School in Santa Maria, California. Barbara married Earl Holladay on January 1, 1966. They were married for eighteen years. She worked as a secretary for a private school in Ojai, California. Barbara was also a camp fire leader and director for over six years. In 1977, she owned and operated Mark"s Country Store. For the past nine years, she owned and operated Barbara"s Jams and Jellies, where she kept books and did people"s taxes. Barbara was later married to Melvin Wheeler until 1995. She was a citizen of the Western Cherokee Tribe. Survivors include: life partner of nineteen years, Charles Graham, of the home; daughter, Cheryl Mengwasser and husband, Paul, of Edmond, OK; three grandchildren: Gina, Kasey, and Rachelle; step son, Rodney Seth Holladay, of Muskogee, OK; brothers: John Curtis Newman and wife, Wanda Faye Autrey, of Scipio, OK; Bobby Gene Newman and wife, Norma, of Warner, OK; and Odie Lee Newman, of Eufaula, OK; sisters: Betty Lou Seale, of Krebs, OK; Wilma Inez Johnson and husband, James, of McAlester, OK; Juanita Montgomery and husband, Vern, of Eufaula, OK; Ruby Lee and husband, Dr. Thomas Thorne, of Porum Landing, OK; and close friend, Pam Price. She is preceded in death by her parents, Odie Lee and Opal Mae Newman.
