Barbara Joe Martin

Barbara Joe Martin, 85, of Stigler, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at the McAlester Regional Health Center. Barbara was born on January 1, 1938, in Checotah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph Lindsey and Lera Nora (Green) Brinsfield. She attended school in Blair and Prairie View on Texanna Road. Barbara spent her childhood near Texanna, Oklahoma. Her family worked as migrant farmers in California, then moved back to Oklahoma where she met her husband, Harold. They were stationed in New Jersey while he served in the Army. They returned to live near family, spending some time in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Barbara retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after ten years. After retirement she and Harold settled near Lake Eufaula.

Survivors include: her daughters, Becky Clark and husband Mark of Norman, Jerri Martin of Eufaula, Stacie Mitchell of Mustang, and Amy Martin of Eufaula; daughter in law, Rhonda Martin of Eufaula; honorary son, Mike Sparks; sisters, Jeanetta Ladd and husband Kenneth of Blair, Patricia Davis and husband Dale of McLoud, and sister-in-law, Wanda Chaney-Brinsfield of Blanchard; fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lera Brinsfield, sons, David Lee and Jeff Martin, and grandchildren, Joshua Ertle, Dalton Moseley, Landon and Layne Goddard, Tommy Randolph, Kaidynce Randolph and Ryder Rose.
