Art Shutts

Arlton Shutts, 90, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021, at his home. Arlton was born on February 21, 1931 in Luray, Kansas, the son of Kenith Shutts and Alice Stella (Hendrick) Shutts. Art went to school in Wichita, Kansas. He married Phyllis in 1952 and they were married for 63 years before Phyllis passed away. They had four children, Stephanie, Brenda, Doug, and Deneise. Art enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He went to work for Schlumberger until he retired in 1988 when they moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma. Art enjoyed bowling and playing golf; especially with his son Doug and nephew Dale. Art was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Kenith and Stella, wife, Phyllis, daughter, Stephanie and son-in-law, Steve Phipps. He is survived by his children, Brenda Phipps, Doug Shutts and wife Connie and Deneise Garcia and husband Gilbert; grandchildren, Michelle Clinage, Mike Williams, Stacy Williams, Aaron Phipps, Audrey Kilgore, Misty Crandell, and Stormy Durham; brother, Roger Shutts of Olathe, KS, and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
