Alvin Morris King, 93, of Norman, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Norman VA Center. Alvin was born on February 28, 1924, in Jones, Oklahoma the son of Lowell H. and Essie (Williams) King. He enlisted in the United State Air Force on November 28, 1942, in Oklahoma City. While serving he received several medals including: the EAME Theater Ribbon with One Silver Star and One Bronze Service Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1945. On September 29, 1946, Alvin married Edna Mae Elam in Oklahoma City. They were married for almost 58 years before she passed on August 18, 2004. On September 30, 1950, Alvin re-enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged on September 29, 1951. Alvin was a longtime resident of Oklahoma City. He worked for the FAA as an electrical engineer working on emergency runway lighting and generator systems. He did a tour with USAID in Kandahar, Afghanistan from 1963-1966 where he installed the generators at the airport in Kandahar. Alvin and Edna moved to the Eufaula Lake in 1979. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved building and built his home and his daughter"s home. Survivors include: his daughter, Davilene "Davie" Killman of Norman; his son, Britt King of Quinton; his sister, Evelyn Shannon of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, James Killman and wife Jodie and John Killman; his adopted granddaughter, Tempal Killman; six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Everett and Ernie King and his wife, Edna.
