Allen Dale Mayhar

SFC. Allen D. Mayhar, US Army (Ret), 63, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Allen was born on September 25, 1960, in Odessa, Texas, the son of Nathan Dale and Gloria Jean (Hurt) Mayhar. He graduated from Morris High School in 1978 and joined the US Army the same year. On March 31, 1984, he began his full-time career at the National Guard Armory, 120th Engineer Battalion, Det 2 HSC, Eufaula, Oklahoma. He graduated from Regional Training Institute 164th Regiment, 1st Engineer Training Battalion, 21H40 Const. Engr Supervisor, ANCOC, November 12, 2005. He proudly served his Country during Operation Iraqi Freedom, joining his Son-in-law, Nathan Neill, in Iraq 2004-2005. While serving, Allen received many accommodations including: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (2nd Award), Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (3rd Award), and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device. He retired from the Army on March 31, 2006 after 27 years and 4 months of service to the United States of America.

On January 18, 1980, Allen married Frankie Lynn Andrews in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Eufaula, Oklahoma, in 1984. He was devoted to his community serving on the Eufaula Fire Department for 20 years, being named the 1994 Fireman of the Year. He owned and operated, Allen’s Tree Service for 24 years, where many clients became friends. Allen enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, playing golf on Wednesdays, collecting porcelain filling station signs, and most of all, he enjoyed his grandkids, MaKalyn and Blayden.

Survivors include: his wife, Frankie, of the home; daughter, Tephanie Lynn Neill and husband Nathan Lee Neill of Eufaula; son, Steven Dane Carter of Eufaula, Ok; Grandchildren, MaKalyn Neill and Blayden Neill; sisters, Glynda Casselman and husband Ronnie, and Pamela Mayhar-Henry. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Dale Mayhar and Gloria Jean Hurt and an uncle, William Donnelle Mayhar.

A service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the First Baptist Church with Reverend J. Ingram and Nathan Neill officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral home and Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com.
