Juanita Helen Bess, 93, of Eufaula passed away Monday, October 27, 2014, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Juanita was born on September 18, 1921, in Enid, Oklahoma the daughter of C.B. Charles Britton and Ella (Baker) Birkes. She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1940. On April 6, 1940, Juanita married Claude Bess in Canadian. She worked as a sales clerk for Silverman, Harkey"s 5 and 10 and Western Auto. She also worked as a rancher. Juanita was a member of the Eufaula First Baptist Church. Survivors include: her son, Claude Bess III and wife Vickie of Ada, their son, James Claude Bess and wife Tamara of Tecumseh and their daughter Macie; her daughter, Carol Powell and the late Johnny Powell of Eufaula, their daughter Lori Powell and her daughter Olivia Shackelford of Eufaula, their son, Christopher Powell and his wife Melanie and their son, Christopher Chase all of Eufaula. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Claude in 2006, and her sisters, Deloris Birkes, Shirley Rush and Anna Majors.
